HME Services informed its 70 employees they would be immediately terminated on August 11 as the company had gone into voluntary administration.

The news came just two hours after staff were sent an email warning them a company-wide meeting was going to be held that afternoon.

HME Services had offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and specialised in designing equipment for 3d planovač interieru creative industries.

Several employees reportedly suspected the company was going under in the months before its closure as multiple accounts had been put on hold, news.com.au reported.

Simon Thorn and Mark Roufei from insolvency firm PKF have been appointed as HME Services' administrators.

So far they have found the company owes at least $2.5million but the debt owed to half of HME Services' creditors still needs to be confirmed.

Mr Thorn said the amount owed to staff is 'significant'.

About $1.5million in unpaid entitlements is owed to HME Services' employees.

About $170,000 if owed in unpaid superannuation and another $500,000 is owed in accrued annual leave.

HME Services hs also racked up a debt of about $500,000 with the Australian Tax Office.

One former HME Services employee said many ex-staff are still listed as working for the company on LinkedIn but have added ‘open to work' on their profile.

'It's a very small industry serving a limited market, so jobs (are) limited in number. I don't know anyone who has started a new job yet,' he added.

'Many of us are in a very precarious financial position. It is putting a strain on relationships.'

He believes one key contributor to the company's collapse was the Covid pandemic.

'The company manufactured machinery so had to buy components and raw materials early enough to cover extended post Covid lead times, allow time to manufacture and test etc,' he said.

HME Services' closure has also affected multiple projects worth millions of dollars (pictured, the company's light display at the Barry Wilde Bridge in Parramatta, west Sydney)

HME Services has been a registered business since 2013 and has completed jobs across the country.

Its sudden closure has impacted multiple projects worth millions of dollars.

One project, a performing arts centre in Queensland, was set to cost between $15million and $16million but will now not be completed by HME Services.

Mr Thorn added multiple 'little projects' have also been affected.

The news comes a day after it was revealed a construction company has gone into voluntary administration - becoming the latest casualty in the industry.

Victorian-based firm Harmac Group insists the company hasn't collapsed and plan to work closely with administrators Cor Cordis to complete the homes of current customers.

Subsidiaries - Harmac Homes, Harmac Constructions, Harmac Urban Living and Ridge Homes - will be subject to the administration.

Other entities in the group are not subject to the administration.

Around 23 jobs have been lost while another 16 staff will keep their jobs for now, 3AW reported.
